Aadu 3: One Last Ride – Part 1, the long-awaited third instalment of Jayasurya‘s cult Malayalam comedy franchise, has been cleared for release with a U certificate and is set for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, 2026. Advance bookings opened on BookMyShow immediately after the censor clearance and the response has been striking, with the film trending hourly on the platform within hours of tickets going live.
What Is Aadu 3 About and Who Is in the Cast?
Aadu 3 is written and directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, who created the original franchise with Aadu in 2015. The film returns the entire gang to the Idukki hills for what the title promises will be their final ride together. The full ensemble cast is back, including Saiju Kurup, Vinayakan, Renji Panicker, Vijay Babu, Sunny Wayne, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bhagath Manuel, Indrans, Bijukuttan, and Sudhi Koppa, with new additions Alleya Bourne and Krishna Jeev joining this time around.
The film is produced under the Friday Film House banner. No OTT platform or streaming date has been announced yet.

Why Does the U Certificate Matter for Aadu 3?
A U certificate means the Central Board of Film Certification has cleared Aadu 3 for unrestricted public exhibition, placing it in family-viewing territory. For a franchise built on adult slapstick and irreverent humour, the U certificate signals that Midhun Manuel Thomas has delivered something accessible to a wider audience demographic. It removes the barrier for family groups and younger viewers, which could directly expand the opening weekend footprint beyond the core fanbase.

How Big Is the Aadu Franchise and Why Does This Feel Like a Comeback?
The original Aadu (2015) underperformed in theatres but gradually built a cult following after its home media release. Aadu 2 (2017) corrected that trajectory dramatically, becoming the second highest-grossing Malayalam film of that year and running over 100 days in theatres. The franchise essentially flipped its own narrative between instalments.
Aadu 3 arrives nine years after the second film, and Jayasurya himself has had a mixed phase commercially in the years between. The BookMyShow advance booking trend suggests the audience has been waiting longer than the industry may have expected.
