The wait for Animal Park now has a confirmed timeline. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and lead actor Ranbir Kapoor have both confirmed that the sequel to the blockbuster Animal will go on floors in mid-2027, once Vanga wraps his current film Spirit starring Prabhas. Animal Park is not just a sequel but the second chapter in a planned trilogy that promises to expand the franchise’s universe in a far more explosive direction.
What Is Animal Park About?
Sandeep Reddy Vanga has described Animal Park as “a war between two brothers who look alike,” which is precisely why he chose the title. Ranbir Kapoor will appear in a dual role for the first time in his career, playing two look-alike characters locked in a brutal power struggle. The story moves beyond the singular focus of the first film and opens up a larger world of conflict. As Vanga himself put it, Animal Park will no longer be the story of just one man — it will be a clash of many animals, with several dangerous and complex characters entering the fold.
The sequel is expected to be grander in scale, more violent in tone, and wider in scope than Animal, which itself became a cultural flashpoint when it released in December 2023. Vanga has described the ideas he has lined up for the music and character arcs as “crazy,” setting expectations at a different level entirely.

Who Stars in Animal Park?
Ranbir Kapoor returns as the central figure, now in a dual role that dramatically raises the stakes of his performance. Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri are both confirmed to return, bringing back key emotional threads from the first film. Anil Kapoor is also expected to reprise his role, alongside Saurabh Sachdeva, whose portrayal of the villain Abrar became one of the most talked-about performances of 2023. Additional casting details for new characters are yet to be officially announced.
When Will Animal Park Begin Filming?
Filming is set to begin in mid-2027, following the completion and release of Spirit, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s current project with Prabhas. Spirit is slated for a March 5, 2027 theatrical release, which means pre-production on Animal Park is already being planned in parallel. Ranbir Kapoor confirmed the 2027 start directly, saying the director is currently making Spirit and that they should begin Animal Park once that is done. A theatrical release for Animal Park would realistically target 2028 or late 2027 depending on the production pace.
Is Animal Park Part of a Trilogy?
Yes. Sandeep Reddy Vanga has confirmed that Animal Park is the second film in a planned three-part franchise. The first film, Animal, released in December 2023 and went on to gross over Rs 900 crore worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year despite deeply divided critical opinion. Animal Park is intended to escalate the world Vanga established, and a third film would bring the trilogy to a close. The franchise is produced by Bhushan Kumar‘s T-Series, which has backed all of Vanga’s films.
With a confirmed 2027 production start, a dual-role performance from Ranbir Kapoor, and Vanga’s promise of a story far bigger than the original, Animal Park is already among the most anticipated Indian films in development.
