Venky Atluri, whose films consistently build around layered emotional writing, appears to be taking Suriya into unexplored character territory with this one.

Who Stars in Vishwanath And Sons?

Suriya leads the film with Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, continuing what has become a remarkable year for Baiju, who is also part of Dhanush’s Kara releasing April 30. Radhika Sarathkumar plays an integral role in the film, and the cast includes Raveena Tandon in a significant part — marking her return to Tamil cinema after a gap of 24 years. Tandon last appeared in a Tamil film in the 2001 Kamal Haasan-starrer Aalavandhan. Her presence here is one of the more quietly notable casting decisions of the year.
